Media Player Classic is a simplified version of Windows Media Player. It comes with most of the codecs you need to play video files and an extremely simple user interface, as well as a fast response time. It combines a powerful set of tools with an old-school look to deliver an enhanced playback experience.
DVD Player (formerly Apple DVD Player) is the default DVD player in macOS. It supports all the standard DVD features such as multiple audio, video & subtitle tracks as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 passthrough, DVD access URLs and closed captions. In some instances, users can choose which VOB file to open. Media Player Classic looks just like Windows Media Player 6.4, but has many additional features. It has a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QuickTime and/or Real Player), built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec. No longer developed so use instead MPC-HC or MPC-BE. When it comes to media players, there is hardly anyone who wouldn't have heard about VLC. Media Player Classic Home Cinema is an extremely light-weight media player for Windows. It is a Media Player Classic mod design for homecinema usage and looks just like Windows Media Player 6.4, but has many additional extra features.
Enjoy various media file formatsMedia Player Classic supports the most commonly used audio and video formats (including FLAC and FLV), as well as QuickTime and RealVideo. It can open DVD files, and has a real-time zoom feature.
You can take a snapshot and save it as a JPG image, create a thumbnail (16 captions taken at a 2-second interval), assign hotkeys to various commands (for instance Volume Boost Max, Filters Menu), add files to Favorites and then organize them, as well as several more.
Quickly find subtitles for moviesSubtitles are completely customizable, and if you are playing a movie with no subtitle, you can use Media Player's online subtitle database (clicking 'Search' at 'Subtitle Database' in the 'File' menu will automatically send you to a page where the caption file is available).
Accurately jump to a desired frame or timeHitting the 'Go to' button enables you to navigate directly to a certain frame on the video file, a feature that is really useful if you want to crop the respective clip. Also, another neat function allows you to simultaneously load videos without sound or an audio track.
You can set Media Player Classic to either close, hibernate, stand by, shutdown or log off the system, or do nothing, once it finishes playing the file.

Important note: The K-Lite Codec Pack does not expand the import abilities of professional video editors such as Vegas Movie Studio or Adobe Premiere. Those applications often only support importing a small set of file formats, and do not support using the type of codecs that are included in the codec pack (DirectShow/VFW). Modern editors often only use their own internal codecs or only support external codecs of the Media Foundation type.
